Are you a Trend Setter?

"Ombre Scroll Crush Bar" Necklace in 18k yellow & pink gold set with diamonds (0.16tcw) on 16" fine cable chain.

Pamela's new "Ombre Scroll Crush Bar" Necklace was just featured in the September/October Issue of InDesign Magazine!  The design was selected for the fabulous "Customer Types" story which focused on "The Trend Setter" Type in this issue.

The Trend Setter is described by Cindy Edelstein as "a trend-conscious customer [who] loves the latest fashions and styles. Midi-rings, ear cuffs and climbers, and bar necklaces are right up her alley, but she's relying on your advice and fashion leadership to point the way."  Pamela's unique interpretation of the simple bar necklace was chosen to illustrate this trend because "Bar necklaces have been popular for at least two years now - which means there's still some life in this trend - and for customers who are just now thinking it would be a good idea, you might want to show them a variation on the theme just in case they're worried that 'everyone' has one already."

This necklace is also available in all-yellow, all-pink or all-white gold to fit your personal style!

InDesign Customer Type: COUTURE COLLECTOR

Inside InDesign Magazine, you'll find a great feature from Cindy Edelstein of the Jeweler's Resource Bureau: Customer Types. May 2011 is the Special Couture Issue, so it's only appropriate that this month's Customer Type is the "Couture Collector"!

To quote from the article, "The Couture Collector is a real jewelry lover. She is so up on the latest news and trends that she has the inside track from the cutting edge almost as soon as the store owner sees it herself. You'd better learn how to tweet photos from your phone for this customer type!"

The earrings Cindy selected for her Couture Collector are Pamela Froman's new "Majestic Crush" earrings in 18k Yellow and Pink "Crushed" Gold featuring Malaia Zircon center stones, accented with Diamonds and Malaia Sapphires, with Peach Moonstone drops.

She believes her customer would love these earrings because "the Pantone color of the year is a shade of pink called Honeysuckle. The Couture Collector is savvy enough to know this, so be on the lookout for jewels that speak to the trend."

From the Back Cover:
500 Gemstone Jewels - The Remarkable Variety of Contemporary Gemstone Jewelry
The vitality of today's top designers who work with gems and stones is evident in the stunning jewelry featured in this juried collection. Some of the pieces have been designed with highly technical settings and rare lapidary specimens while others, no less amazing, have employed basic techniques to achieve innovative, thought-provoking results. "Jewelry can be stimulating as well as beautiful, and this volume is filled with pieces hat are bound to raise aesthetic questions," says curator Cindy Edelstein. "But take my advice: forget about the artistic issues, and allow yourself to be swept away, as I was, by the beauty of the gemstones."

globalDESIGN 2009

Pamela and I just exhibited at the globalDESIGN Show in Philadelphia, and we had a great time!

Cindy Edelstein, the show's organizer, has done a fabulous job of creating a relaxed, intimate atmosphere... this is not your normal trade show! globalDESIGN is located in a cozy room just outside the massive Buyer's Market of American Craft Show, and Cindy has gathered a wonderful array of designers from around the world! Refreshments were available all day at globalDESIGN; the Buyers loved that they could grab coffee and breakfast with us in the morning, or a glass of wine to wind down and the end of a long day.

It's also a great show for getting to know other people in the industry. During the slow times, Pamela and I chatted with the other designers and their sales reps... we even went out to dinner with a few of them! We always love seeing Aaron Henry and his father Conrad, Stephanie Albertson (and her dog Otis!), Rod Kosann (of Monica Rich Kosann) and the girls from Alex Sepkus (Marla and Candy)... We also made some new friends this year: our booth-neighbor, Janis Kerman (who is awesome), Melanie from Gurhan (also awesome!)... it's a very social show! Below are some snapshots from the show floor and our nights out... Enjoy!!

P.S. The black and white photo you see in the center of our showcase is Pamela's mother, Ann Froman, at age 17. You can see where Pamela gets her gorgeous looks!

Tucson Trip 2009, Part II: The Social Scene

Larry Chasin, Marlene Richey, Cindy Edelstein, and Mark Schneider at the CDG Dinner

This year, our Tucson trip wasn't all about shopping for stones. Not only was Pamela going to be presented with an award (more about that in a minute), but a lot of our jewelry industry friends were in town and we took the opportunity to spend some time with them! Our first night in Tucson, we attended the CDG (Contemporary Design Group) Dinner at the historic Hotel Congress, where we mingled with new and old friends alike: Cindy Edelstein (of the Jeweler's Resource Bureau), Larry Chasin (of Jewelry Designer Finder), Marlene Richey, Alishan and his lovely wife Lydia, Aaron Henry and his father Conrad, Howard Hauben of Centurion, Paula Crevoshay and her husband Martin Bell... The next night, Cindy organized a cozy dinner at El Charro (a local favorite) with a different group of designers and industry professionals: Vicente Agor and Michael Pfeffer, Daniel Toledo and his wife... We all had a great time breaking the ice by telling our "Worst Jewelry Story"!
