letter from a new fan of Pamela Froman...

The rings that inspired the email: the custom 22k/18kw Harlequin Crush wedding set Pamela made for Caren

We received a lovely email earlier this week, from a woman who just discovered Pamela Froman Fine Jewelry, and wanted to let us know. We love feedback like this!

Hello!
Flying back from our Alaskan honeymoon adventure, my husband and I met Caren and Kenny, a lovely couple from Santa Fe, NM. My heart was immediately drawn to their charming, outgoing personalities, but my eyes were immediately drawn to the sparkle on Caren's ring finger. She told me that YOU made her wedding rings for her and reset her diamond. I can't tell you how much I love your design and this ring, in particular! My ring is also a hammered band, but made of rose gold. Caren's hammered or "crushed" rings were the only other rings I've seen with that treatment. Anyway, I just had to say that you have a definite admirer in me! Maybe when Dan (my wonderful husband) and I are ready to make an investment in a more valuable ring, we'll come talk to you!
Hope you have a great day.
Cheerfully,

Chelsea
(last name removed for privacy)

Do you have a Pamela Froman story you'd like to share? Post it as a comment, or e-mail me (jilienne@pamelafroman.com) and I will copy it into an independent post like this one. We'd love to hear from you!

Pamela Froman wins JAWA Award for "Get Crushed" Campaign!

InDesign Magazine recently published the results of their second annual Jewelry & Watch Advertising Awards competition (also affectionately known as "the JAWAs") and we were excited to see Pamela Froman's "Get Crushed" campaign took 2nd place in the Manufacturer/Designer Procuct-Only Magazine Ad category!

Here's what a couple of the judges had to say about our "Get Crushed" campaign...

David Marks, co-founder of The Collaboration, a full-service marketing agency in Kansas City:
"'Crushed' is a much easier word to remember than the 'hand-hammered technique' Pamela Froman uses. Froman makes a convincing case that the line includes something for everyone with multiple examples of her pieces in each ad. And the play on words about having a crush stays cute, not hokey."

Mark Mazzarese, president of Mazzarese Fine Jewelry in Kansas City, KS:
"Nontraditional backdrops give the feeling of workmanship. Excellent product detail represented in the photography. Clever tag lines."

They also included a quote from me (Jilienne Hart, Marketing Director of Pamela Froman Fine Jewelry) about the "Real-Life Success" of this campaign:
"The first ad was done in partnership with a retailer, who reported that the Cleopatra Sparkle Ring was sold as soon as the ad appeared. The second ad appeared in Inside Weddings, and we immediately began receiving calls from women asking where they could purchase Pamela Froman's unique ring designs."

We love the campaign, and we're so happy to know that the industry pros who judged this competition love it to! We would like to thank all the judges of the JAWAs and, of course, big Thank Yous go out to our photographer, Jay Lawrence Goldman, and our ad agency, Dreamentia!

About the JAWA Awards:
(Transcribed from InDesign Magazine's May/June issue)
"Nearly 160 companies submitted more than 350 ads for consideration by our exceptional panel of judges, which includes the president of marketing for NBC Entertainment, three award-winning owners/directors of national marketing firms, an industry association director, and the president of a prestigious retail operation.
Judges were split into two groups of three, and none were allowed to vote on an ad in which they had a vested interest. They were asked to score each ad on five different criteria dealing with quality of production/graphics/photography, creativity, innovation, and emotional impact. Each criterion was graded on a scale of 1 to 10, which meant a minimum score of 5 and maximum of 50 for each ad, per judge. For any given criterion, a "1" meant the judge felt the ad was average in that quality, while a "10" indicated that the ad was extraordinary and beyond all expectations. A perfect score for an ad would have been 150.
You can view all of the wining ads, with full audio/video for the TV and radio winners, at www.instoremag.com."

Pamela Froman Men's Rings: From Here To Eternity

Inside Weddings' Spring 2008 issue featured two of Pamela's men's rings in a piece called "From Here To Eternity." The rings shown are (left) "Jay's Crush", a wide band made of Crushed Platinum and 18k Yellow Gold that gives the appearance of four thin bands stacked together; and (right) "King's Crush" made of 18k Yellow, White & Pink Crushed Gold with 4 diamonds, one set at each crossroad of color.
As the article says, "The symbol of his eternal devotion can be just as distinctive as he is!"

New Engagment ring..

I met this great couple in Aspen, who were vacationing from Santa Fe. She is a potter and has this ethereal beauty about her and a sweetness. We had an instant connection! She was wearing an engagement ring that her husband had commissioned for her many years ago, and she said it had just never felt like her style. When she saw my Cognac Diamond "Harlequin Solitaire" Ring (shown above), she fell in love, so we decided to put her engagement ring's diamond (which is little bigger than the Cognac), in my setting. Her husband then picked out 2 of my "Harlequin Sparkle Circle" Rings to stack on each side. I Photoshopped a couple of pictures, to get an idea of what her rings will look like; they are all Platinum and 22kt gold, which is going to be beautiful. She is very excited to get her new engagement ring, and I'm excited to make it for her!
