Pamela Froman Men's Rings: From Here To Eternity

Inside Weddings' Spring 2008 issue featured two of Pamela's men's rings in a piece called "From Here To Eternity." The rings shown are (left) "Jay's Crush", a wide band made of Crushed Platinum and 18k Yellow Gold that gives the appearance of four thin bands stacked together; and (right) "King's Crush" made of 18k Yellow, White & Pink Crushed Gold with 4 diamonds, one set at each crossroad of color.
As the article says, "The symbol of his eternal devotion can be just as distinctive as he is!"

Press Album

We recently discovered that a large portion of the press on our main website (www.pamelafroman.com) has mysteriously disappeared! We're working on getting everything back up but, in the meantime, I decided to throw together a little slide show album from the Press Clipping Cards that are on my computer. (I'm missing quite a few, but I think I found enough to make a decent slide show.) These cards were originally created for inclusion in Pamela's press kit, and they not only include magazine features (Robb Report, Self, Lucky, Inside Weddings, Brides Magazine...), but also some of the television shows (America's Next Top Model, CBS's Las Vegas...) and celebrities (Debra Messing, Vanessa Marcil, Molly Simms, Whoopi Goldberg, Cicely Tyson...) that her jewelry has appeared on. Enjoy!

Sunburst for a Bright Flower

InDesign Magazine, a publication targeting fine jewelry retailers, includes a monthly feature called "Customer Types". The feature's author, Style Advisor Cindy Edelstein, selected Pamela Froman's "Sunburst Crush" necklace for April's customer, "The Bright Flower". According to the article, "The fashionable woman this season will be wearing pieces that capture the spirit of warm, sunny days. This necklace is perfect for this trend, and will warm her heart as it glows and sparkles."

Here's a larger image of the 18k Gold & Diamond "Sunburst Crush" necklace:

New Engagment ring..

I met this great couple in Aspen, who were vacationing from Santa Fe. She is a potter and has this ethereal beauty about her and a sweetness. We had an instant connection! She was wearing an engagement ring that her husband had commissioned for her many years ago, and she said it had just never felt like her style. When she saw my Cognac Diamond "Harlequin Solitaire" Ring (shown above), she fell in love, so we decided to put her engagement ring's diamond (which is little bigger than the Cognac), in my setting. Her husband then picked out 2 of my "Harlequin Sparkle Circle" Rings to stack on each side. I Photoshopped a couple of pictures, to get an idea of what her rings will look like; they are all Platinum and 22kt gold, which is going to be beautiful. She is very excited to get her new engagement ring, and I'm excited to make it for her!

Aspen Rocks!!

"Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail".

Ralph Waldo Emerson

I just returned from a great trunk show/personal appearance in Aspen at a gallery named Chepita. It was an amazing show; not only was it successful in terms of sales, but I met some great people! I loved meeting the clients who enjoy collecting my work. Seeing what my creations mean to them makes it all seem worth while.
The people who work at Chepita are great too, and I really enjoyed hanging out with them. They were fun people, very knowledgeable, and they promoted the show extremely well, too: Chepita put half page color ads in the local newspapers for a week, put a full page ad in one of the local magazines that is in all of the hotels, sent out a ton of postcards and also gave stacks of the cards to all of the hotels. On top of that, Aspen Magazine did a wonderful editorial on me for this month!
I had a staggering amount of interest in my one of a kind "Gothic Harlequin Cross", which was featured in the newspaper ads. I ended up selling the original piece and getting a special order on a custom version of it! It was very hard to part with that piece, it felt so personal... but I loved how happy it made the woman who bought it!

Below are pictures I took of the Chepita storefront, and my jewelry on display inside. Isn't it a beautiful store?! (The picture above is the view from outside my hotel.) I also attached a picture of the Gothic Harlequin Cross, to commemorate its sale. I'll miss it, but now I get to make a new version!

Charity Auction for The Buckley School

Pamela Froman recently donated a beautiful one-of-a-kind necklace ("The Roman Pearl" Necklace, created from 18k Yellow Crushed Gold, Pink Tourmaline, Malaia Zircon, and a Pink South Sea Pearl) to The Buckley School's 75th Anniversary Gala Silent Auction.
This K-12 Sherman Oaks, CA school is founded on the motto, "Dare to be: Brilliant, Creative, Strong, and True." This motto sums up their philosophy of a 4-fold education plan which seeks to balance academics, the arts, athletics, and moral development.

Tucson Trip Slide Show

I finally put together a little slide show of the trip Pamela and I took to Tucson to shop for gems. The annual Tucson Gem & Mineral Show is actually many shows rolled into one, but the main show is AGTA (put on by the American Gem Trade Association), which is where we spent a lot of our time. Pamela's a little camera-shy, so the only person you'll see in these pics is me, but most of the images are of gemstones anyway. The stones you'll see are some of the pieces Pamela considered buying, except for the big hunk of Fluorite crystals, which I just had to take a picture of because it looked so cool! (I was going to tell you which stones we kept and which we took a pass on, but I think a little mystery is a good thing.) Enjoy the show!

Tucson Trip

Hi Everyone!
As Jilienne mentioned, we just got back from back-to-back business trips. Our first stop was Tucson, to shop at the annual Gem & Mineral Show. This is a sprawling show that takes over Tucson for the first couple weeks of February each year; it’s usually a lot of fun, but also overwhelming. I always go with my list of Needs, and then open myself up to be "wowed" or "inspired"… to see something that’s new to me. Sometimes it is not necessarily new to the industry, but just hits me as “right”; other times it is so new that I can only find a little bit of the stone and the next year it floods the market! (This has happened to me several times.) I also get very enticed by certain stones that end up sitting in my vault for years, crying out for me to use them. (A few times, these vaulted stones turned out to be the next big trend, which I missed because I didn't get around to making the new design.) I usually try not to follow trends; I prefer to close my eyes and follow my heart. That is why it is funny to me when someone says, "I see you are using a lot of 18k Pink gold. Is that in?" I laugh and say, "I have always used a lot of 18k Pink Gold. The rest of the world is just now catching up!" This happened with the Copper Rutile (a very special Quartz) that I use too!
I am very picky about which colors I like to use, and I tend to make myself mad trying to find the right shade of gemstone. Last year, I fell in love with Grey (Grey Quartz and Rough Grey Diamonds,) but it had to be that perfect light charcoal color that looks amazing with my Crushed Melange (tri-color) Collection. This year, everything looked the same to me… nothing was calling out, “Pamela! Make something with me!” (with the exception of bi-color Tourmaline, which I always love but rarely use.) By the third day of walking the Show, I was getting a little depressed… even though I’d found some beautiful rough cut diamonds, I still hadn’t found my Wow! Stone. And then it hit me, (Wham!) from two different directions! Iridescent Milky Diamonds, and Platinum Rutile! My mind has been waking me up in the middle of the night to draw and sculpt new shapes to go with these fabulous stones! This particular Rutile is very rare -- I can only get it from one mine in Brazil, and everything they mined is already carved, so I can’t get matching stones for earrings -- but I can make rings, necklaces and bracelets and it is soooo cool. It looks great with all of my metal colors! It is very specific, and not for everyone, but I absolutely love it!! The Milky Diamonds will probably become a bridal-ish ring group (yes I wrote “bridal-ish”) because I think they’ll make great right-hand-rings, but a cool bride would love to wear one as her wedding ring.
I can't wait to show all of you what I do with my new stones!

Cheers & Crushes!
Pamela

Quick Note #2

Hello Again,

We're back in Los Angeles, so I think I'll be able to get back into my 1-2 blog/week routine. I finally installed the software for my new camera (a cute Fuji point-n-shoot digital from my very thoughtful Valentine), so I'll upload the pics from Tucson and Philly very soon.
Also, Pamela told me she'd like to write about how the annual Tucson trip inspires her new designs! Be sure to check back, because you'll definitely want to read a post from the creative mind behind Pamela Froman Fine Jewlery!

Best,
Jilienne

Quick Note

Hi Everyone!

I apologize for going so long between posts; Pamela and I were preparing for back-to-back business trips, and I just could not seem to find the time to post a new blog! The first trip was to Tucson, for the annual Gem and Mineral Show. This is where Pamela finds most of the rare and beautiful gemstones that complement and inspire her designs. (By the way, I took a few pictures while we were there, which I plan to upload for you sometime this week.) We just got back to L.A. last night, and we leave again tomorrow, this time for Philadelphia; Pamela will be exhibiting her colletion there, at a trade show called "globalDESIGN". I'll go into more detail later, but for now I need to do a little laundry and re-pack.

Best,
Jilienne

Modern Jeweler Buyer's Choice

Pamela's one-of-a-kind "Sentimental Crush" Locket recently appeared in the Buyer's Choice section of Modern Jeweler magazine. This is the first in a series of unique lockets that Pamela has designed. This locket is 18k Yellow Crushed Gold (with an 18k White Crushed Gold inset in the back) and a beautiful pear-shaped Rubellite cabachon, shown on Italian Lambskin Leather Ribbon.

P.S. In case you're wondering who the cutie in the locket is... it's Pamela's favorite creation, her son Hudson.

Meredith Brooks wore Pamela Froman Fine Jewelry on VH1!

VH1 recently aired a new edition of their nostalgic "I Love The..." series, entitled "I Love The 90s Part Deux", as well as "The Greatest: 100 Greatest Songs of the 90s". Of course, you can't have a "best of" 90s music show without Meredith Brooks! Ms. Brooks chose to wear Pamela Froman Fine Jewelry during her on-camera interview for these shows, and we couldn't be more thrilled! She looked absolutely gorgeous in "Crushed Headlight Hoops" and a Smokey Quartz "Crushed Links & Leather Necklace".

From VH1.com:
1997 was the YEAR OF GIRL POWER. From the launch of the all girl's basketball league the WNBA to the extreme makeovers of Paula Jones and Barbie to the sizzling sound of Meredith Brook's "Bitch"... I thought you might want to see the famous video, so here it is:

Fine Jewelry With a Secret Message

A locket from Pamela's sterling collection was selected for a special section in the January issue of Inside Weddings entitled, "Love Notes: Fine Jewelry With A Secret Message". This locket has an interior frame to hold a picture of your loved one (or a tiny wedding photo!) and can be customized with engraving and gemstones that have special meaning to their wearer.

Pamela is published!

Wow! January is certainly a busy month! Between wrapping up 2007, getting organized for the coming year, outlining plans for our major events in 2008, and taking care of new orders... I've been neglecting my blogging duties, and I apologize. However, I absolutely had to tell you about our most recent exciting news: The latest publication by Lark Books, entitled "500 Wedding Rings," includes 3 rings by Pamela Froman! This is a beautiful book and we're so excited and honored to be a part of it. Check out the images below...

(the rings on the cover are not Pamela's but the rings on the following two pages are...)

2008 Is Off To A Great Start!

It's our first day back in The Studio after taking a few days off to enjoy the holidays, celebrate a birthday (Pamela's son Hudson* turned 3 last Friday!) and to ring in the New Year... and 2008 is already off to a great start!
I noticed Pamela's stack rings in the new issue of InStore I was flipping through (I'll post more about that later this week); we received special orders from not one but two of our stores today; and Pamela is meeting with a new celebrity client to custom-design a piece!
We're also planning out our trade show and trunk show schedule for the year... and it's looking pretty busy! This is shaping up to be an exciting year!!
I hope I'll still have time to blog...

*P.S. This is Hudson. Isn't he a cutie?!
